Menna & Luke’s Surprise Lake District Proposal

At Wongs Jewellers, we love celebrating the magical moments that mark the beginning of forever. For Menna and Luke, that moment came at the top of Hoad Hill in Ulverston, where a walk through the Lake District turned into the start of their engagement journey.

How did you first meet?

Like many love stories, theirs began with a little encouragement from friends.

“Our friends set us up! Luke was having a birthday meal with his friends and our mutual friends asked me to go with them. I was reluctant at first as I didn’t want to gatecrash but I’m so glad they made me go along!”

The Proposal

During a holiday in the Lake District, Menna and Luke set out on one of their favourite walks up Hoad Hill in Ulverston. Once they reached the top, Luke popped the question. What made the day even more special was that Luke had secretly arranged for both of their families to surprise them afterwards, waiting at a coffee shop to celebrate the happy news.

“Luke was nervous but didn’t show it. I wasn’t suspicious and it was a total surprise. It was so perfect💕”

The Ring

Luke worked closely with the Wongs team to design a bespoke ring and select the perfect diamond. The result was a piece that Menna adores, made all the more special by the thought and care Luke put into the design.

“I couldn’t have chosen a more amazing ring myself! Luke designed the ring with the team at Wongs and spent time choosing the perfect diamond which makes it even more special.”

Visiting Wongs

From the moment they stepped into Wongs, Menna and Luke felt the warmth of the team. Whether it was checking ring sizes or receiving their Bridal Box, every detail was made to feel personal and memorable.

“The whole team made the experience so special, I can’t thank you all enough!”

Wedding Planning

Although the wedding is still a little way off, Menna and Luke have started looking at venues and already know they want a relaxed day filled with love and joy. We look forward to helping them choose their wedding rings.

“We’ve started looking at some venues and think we want quite a relaxed day. We’ll definitely be coming back to Wongs when it’s time to get our wedding rings!”
