Starting with the rough diamond, they will decide how to cut and polish it to create the most beautiful stone, ensuring perfect balance and symmetry of all of the facets. Only diamonds with these perfect proportions and accuracy are chosen to ensure your diamond is truly dazzling. 

The quality of the cut is most important to ensure your Wongs diamond captures and refracts the light in the most sensational way, creating optimum sparkle and everlasting love.

Because diamonds form under tremendous heat and pressure, it is extremely rare to find a diamond that lacks any internal and external characteristics. These characteristics are a by-product of its formation and help gemmologists separate natural diamonds from synthetics and simulants, and identify individual stones. 

Here at Wongs, our diamonds are hand-selected to be visually perfect to the naked eye. Any ‘inclusions’ in our diamonds are barely visible even at ten times magnification.

At Wongs, our expert team only hand select exceptional diamonds in the colourless range (D-F) which are often referred to as ‘exceptional’ or ‘rare’ white.

This pure colour is something everyone can spot – a flash of light quite sensational, appearing beautifully bright and white. Diamonds are graded from ‘D’ (colourless) to ‘Z’ (tinted). No one knows what happened to A,B,C, some say they started the scale at ‘D’ for ‘Diamond’. Colour grades are determined by comparing each diamond to a master set. Each letter grade represents a range of colour and is a measure of how noticeable the colour is.

Carats are the measure of weight in a stone, not size as is often perceived. In this instance, putting weight on can be viewed favourably, however ‘small and perfectly formed’ is also a great approach. 

At Wongs, we believe a better quality of diamond is always the best choice, regardless of the weight. In all of our engagement rings, we engrave the diamond weight inside the shank for guarantee and reference.

There is no other gemstone quite like a diamond. It is found in the most remote places on earth, and the fact that it forms at all is something of a miracle. A diamond is a testament of endurance and strength – and not surprisingly, the ultimate symbol of love!

So, you’re going to propose…you’re pretty sure you’ll get a big YES! But, how do you know what size ring to buy?

Firstly, ask friends and family as they’ll be happy to try and help out. If your partner has a ring they wear which you could ‘borrow’, bring it in to our lovely city centre store and the team can get an idea of size from this.

If this is not an option, we can size the ring to an average finger size. You pop the question and then bring your new fiancé/fiancée into store for a free ring sizing. We can normally do this within an hour too, so you can enjoy browsing around the store, telling us all about the proposal and even catch a glimpse of some matching wedding rings.

But first, time for some nice chilled prosecco – Congratulations, you did a great job!

We offer a free re-size on all Wongs rings. Usually, this can be completed in store within an hour. However, if going up by several sizes we may recommend re-making the ring to ensure full security of any shoulder stones.

Please note fully set diamond eternity bands cannot be resized, so must be made in the correct finger size.

Our standard necklaces, 46cm (18 inch) are our most popular style. They sit just below the neck with a pendant attached.

We are delighted to offer UK deliveries to mainland UK, Northern Ireland & the Isle of Man* on all of our beautiful products. Our expert courier service will ensure your jewellery is in safe hands and will aim to deliver within 3-5 working days. If you have a specific date for delivery please email accounts@wongsjewellers.co.uk or call 0151 236 1552 and our team will be on hand to assist. *If ordering before 3pm and the item chosen is in stock the item will be dispatched the same day. 

Christmas Delivery -  last day for guaranteed Christmas delivery is Friday the 21st of December for UK orders.

We’re just certain that you will love your beautiful new piece from Wongs, but, if for any reason something isn’t 100% we’ll make it our purpose to resolve it quickly and efficiently. Please return the goods in original packaging in an unworn original condition. We will be happy to exchange/refund* or provide a gift voucher to use in our beautiful store (Exclusions: Earrings and other pierced jewellery cannot be returned due to hygiene reasons). We will provide this for up to 30 days after your purchase, so you will have plenty of time to ensure you’ve found ‘the one’.

Our expert repairs and alterations are made at our instore workshop by our experienced craftsmen. We offer everything from re-sizing and chain repair to plating, re-tipping, re-shanking and gemstone replacement. 

We understand the delicate and complex processes of jewellery repairs, and take the upmost care with precious your items. We can add metal or replace worn parts to help to keep those valuable stones secure looking their best. A full quotation is provided before repairs or alterations begin and all work is completed in our premises, so your valuables are fully insured whilst they are in our care.

DIAMOND CERTIFICATION

Diamond Certification (most commonly from labs GIA and IGI) is a document you will receive that describes a diamond in all of its characteristics. Some diamonds carry a certification that includes an analysis of their dimensions, clarity, colour, polish, symmetry and other characteristics. The certificates serve as proof that they have undergone an unbiased, professional examination, and that they can be traced back to suppliers who comply with the UN-mandated Kimberley Process.

CLEANING, POLISHING AND VALUATIONS

We are delighted to offer a free cleaning service on all of your Wongs Jewellery. Feel free to call into the store and our team of expert in-house Goldsmiths will ensure your item looks as good as new. As well as checking the security of all stones as part of the process. We will advise you of any work needed on your piece. We recommend a check and polish at least every 12 months.

We work with the industry’s leading certified Valuers to offer a complete Valuation service on your precious items. We can Value your jewellery at any time, simply bring it along to our store – this usually takes around 10 days. - We are currently performing valuations on jewellery purchased from Wongs.

POLICY ON CONFLICT DIAMONDS

The Kimberley Process, introduced in 2003 is now law in all EU countries and in around 40 other countries worldwide and is working to regulate the flow of rough diamonds and to exclude conflict diamonds from the supply chain. ‘Rough’ is the term used to describe diamonds as they come out of the ground before they have been cut and polished. This global system is backed by governments, the UN and various NGOs. It effectively manages and certifies the international trade in ‘rough’ diamonds.

The Kimberley Process is supported by a code of conduct introduced by the World Diamond Council which requires traders in cut and polished diamonds to warrant that the diamonds have come from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict.

At Wongs, we deal only with reputable suppliers who we know and trust, non of whom deal with conflict diamonds. All of our diamonds are purchased from legitimate sources, that are not involved in funding conflict and in compliance with United Nations Resolutions.
