Three Generations United - A Bespoke Story

At Wongs Jewellers, some of the most meaningful pieces we create come from stories woven through family generations. In this bespoke story, one couple, Natasha and Alan, chose to honour their loved ones by transforming heirloom jewellery into their wedding bands - a beautiful way to carry their family history into their future.

"My mother-in-law gave us a piece of her mother's jewellery to sell, but I had a better idea..."

When it came to funding their wedding, this couple were offered a generous and sentimental gift - a piece of jewellery from the Alan's great grandmother, intended to be sold to help cover costs. But instead of parting with the piece, they saw an opportunity to create something even more meaningful.

Speaking with both grandmothers on the Natashas side, the couple gathered three treasured family rings to remodel into something new - their wedding bands.

“My band is plain gold, but my partner has a diamond from his nan’s ring embedded into the inside of his band. He adored his nan, so I’m delighted we were able to include extra detail.”

The Design Journey

The couple knew they wanted simple, plain bands, but even the simplest pieces can carry the most weight when they’re crafted with personal meaning. They worked closely with the Wongs team to fine tune the design and explore creative ways to honour each family member's contribution.

Visiting the Wongs workshop and receiving a personalised video of their rings being made added a special touch they’ll treasure forever.

“Working with the Wongs team was very easy. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. It was great being able to see the workshop, and the video made of the rings being created was a fantastic touch that we’ve loved sharing with family.”

The Big Reveal

When they saw the final pieces, the couple were overjoyed. Though their wedding bands appear simple on the outside, they carry a deep family story on the inside - quite literally.

“We couldn’t be happier with the results. Although they’re only plain bands, they feel extra special knowing they’ve been created using our grandmothers’ jewellery.”
